EXTENSION OF PRODUCTION BUILDING FOR FOOD INDUSTRY

Client: Ital Food Industry, Bulgaria
Location: Shumen, Bulgaria
Description of work: General Contractor
Surface area: 2 200 m²
Start of execution: 2012
End of execution: 2012

Project description:

The task on site is an internal reconstruction of an existing production warehouse into a production area for crackers.

The reconstruction is done in two types of intervention:

  • a second level is formed at elevation 4.85 with solid-filled reinforced concrete slab, carried by reinforced concrete columns with sections 40/40 and 25/25

  • the facade panel is moved with 200 cm to expand the warehouse and production areas

Vertical communication between the two levels is effectuated through two freight elevators and a newly designed reinforced concrete staircase. The existing fire escape exits and stairs in the other part of the building will be additionally used for access to the premises and evacuation in case of emergency or fire.

The existing structure is precast reinforced concrete, composed of columns 40/60 (first level), 40/40 (second level) and frame girders. The roof is made with PP panels. The new part of the roof (in the 2-meter line) is LT sheet. The new plate, forming the second level, has a thickness of 24 cm and is monolithic, carried by monolithic reinforced concrete columns with section 40/40 and 25/25.

The expansion project of the building falls almost entirely on the existing gravel path around the building that does not distort or substantially change the landscaping of the entire plot.
