New innovative solutions in Bulgaria

The interior of the building has a unique atrium space with a total height of 36 meters from the lowest to the highest point. The atrium is covered with glazed roof lights with a surface area of 1800 square meters. The atrium space at the top of each floor again ends with a curved LED-illuminated architectural element, composed of panels made from glass-fiber reinforced gypsum (GRG), designed and manufactured in the UK especially for the Bulgaria Mall project. Each panel has a different shape and is cast in an individually produced mold, which enables a high accuracy in the execution of the projected curves. The combination of this material with the respective installation technology has never been used in a project of this type in Bulgaria

Green building

The building is certified under BREEAM to reduce the negative impact on the environment. We also won the national contest “Building of the Year 2013” in category “Buildings with elements of green architecture”. Jet fans are used in the underground levels to control pollution, ventilation and smoke extraction. The supply of fresh air to the shops is ensured through an energy-saving active thermodynamic recuperation which has never been used in Bulgaria for objects of this type. Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning of the galleries is provided through water-cooled rooftops.
